Application Notes:

1. Radio Frequency Interference (RFI): Solid-state speed controls are notorious for producing irritating radio noise on the AM band. However, our KB speed controls come equipped with a high-gain RFI suppression filter as a standard feature, effectively minimizing this interference and providing a more enjoyable listening experience.
2. Low End Set Point (Minimum speed): KB Electronics’ speed controls are designed to meet the specific voltage requirements of your system. For 115 Volt input controls, the factory settings ensure a consistent 65 Volts AC output (with a variation of ±3 Volts) as the standard. Similarly, for 230 Volt input controls, the output is set to a reliable 120 Volts AC (with a variation of ±6 Volts). Rest assured, all our controls are meticulously calibrated using a responsive AC voltmeter. If you have unique voltage needs, we also offer customizable settings to cater to your specific requirements.
3. Motor Suitability: Achieving optimal speed control for your motor requires careful consideration. Proper loading of the motor, combined with the appropriate fan blade, is essential. Motors are tested for suitability by determining their speed response to applied voltage. A motor is deemed suitable if it exhibits a linear speed change across a wide range of voltages. Also, to ensure the safety and longevity of your motor, it must include a built-in thermal overload protector when used with our solid-state speed controls.
