Brook Crompton may be new to you, but they certainly aren’t new to motors. It’s a 50+ year old, UK-founded brand under the Wolong Electric group of companies. Wolong Electric is estimated to be the second largest motor producer globally, generating 5.6 billion USD in revenue in 2019.  Wolong Electric has built a reputation of experience and expertise which follows through to the Brook Crompton line of motors. You could think of them as the ‘old new-guys on the block’ - Brook Crompton is making a resurgence in Canada, offering a proven and notably customizable product range.

Brook Crompton North American motors are distributed through Toronto, Ontario and Cleveland, Ohio. We have the entire Toronto stock listed on the eMotors website. However, if you don’t see your product listed on the site, please don’t hesitate to contact our team. Brook Crompton offers a vast range of customizations and workarounds to get you the motor you need ASAP. Typically, orders placed before noon will ship out the same day. Most motors will arrive within 1-5 business days when shipping within Canada.

Custom made-to-order motors are typically delivered within 3-5 months, depending on the size of the motor.  

Where are Brook Crompton Motors Manufactured?

Brook Crompton motors are manufactured by Wolong Electric, which is a China-based company founded in 1984. At one time, Brook Crompton was manufactured in the UK. The products are now manufactured in Poland and China.  

All Brook Crompton manufacturing plants are ISO9001 certified.

Brook Crompton Pump Motor (JM/JP)

Brook Crompton offers a NEMA JM/JP close coupled pump motor with a TEFC enclosure. The 1-30 HP motors come in a lightweight aluminum construction and the 40+ HP comes in a heavy-duty cast-iron body. These motors come with a standard 3-year warranty and are CSA approved for Class I; Div 2; Groups A, B, C, and D.  

The motors have been tropicalized, meaning they are meant to perform in particularly humid, moist environments. Drain holes for condensation and resin coated windings make these motors ideal for car wash or green house applications.  

Explosion Proof Motor

The NEMA Three Phase Explosion proof motors are dual rated 60/50 Hz. The dual rating makes this motor series ideal for OEM builds where the final product may be used globally.  

They are UL certified 5:1 constant torque, CSA certified 10:1 constant torque, and 20:1 variable torque (UL and CSA). These motors are Div 1, Class II, Groups E, F and G.  

W Series (Cast Iron and Aluminum)

The most notable feature of the W series TEFC AC motors is the removable/repositionable feet for easy conversion to F1, F2, F3 (F0) or round body configuration. Motors over 40 HP come with a machined surface to bolt on a c-face or d-flange. These unique features allow for flexibility with your spare motor inventory. Maintenance teams can easily install c-faces and d-flanges on their own, allowing for less downtime when replacing motors. 254T frames and above come standard with a thermistor for overload protection. This series is also internal tropic-proof, making them suitable for moist operating conditions in outdoor environments.  

These AC motors come in both a heavy-duty cast-iron construction and light weight cast iron construction.  

Brake Motors

The Brook Crompton off-the-shelf break motor is part of the W Series and also comes with adjustable feet. These motors have a 1.25 service factor at 60Hz and class F insulation / class B rise. Brook Crompton also has the ability to mount a break onto the standard W Series motors (under 10 HP) in their Toronto facility.  

IEEE 841 Motors

The IEEE841 severe duty line comes in 1-250HP. These motors are rated IP56 and are equipped with a heavy-duty cast-iron frame, end brackets, and conduit box. Labyrinth style seals on both ends of the shaft limit contaminants from entering the motor. Extended grease tubes allow for easy regreasing in the field without disassembling the motor. Corrosion resistant grade 5 hardware and epoxy paint add extra protection for operating in highly contaminated environments.
